Preventing Leaf and Root Rot Diseases in Tomato Plants

Leaf and root rot disease is very harmful to Tomato plants. But with proper care and preventive measures, you can effectively safeguard your tomato plants from these harmful diseases. I can assist you with some vital tips to prevent leaf and root rot diseases in your tomato plants:

Soil Preparation:

Disease prevention measures should be taken from the time of soil preparation. At this time, enough vermicompost and bioderma (fungicide) should be mixed in the soil.

Rainwater:

If there is too much rainwater, the leaves of the plant become weak due to excess nitrogen. At this time, fungicide treatment should be given immediately. Otherwise, the whole tree will rot in two days.

Treatment of leaf and root rot:

For this, two fungicide treatments should be done simultaneously. The two treatment are,

  1. Copper Hydroxide 53.8: Mix 3 grams of Copper Hydroxide 53.8 in 1 liter of water and pour it on the soil at the base of all plants (healthy and affected).
  2. Fungicide: Mix 2 grams of Metalaxyl 8% + Mancozeb 64% in 1 liter of water or mix well 2.5 grams of Saaf powder in 1 liter of water and spray each plant.

These two treatments should be done on the same day. This is called two-pronged treatment. This treatment will prevent the tree from rotting.

Warning:

Any rotten leaves should be cut off and thrown away or burned. Because the fungus can spread from these rotten leaves.
