To control pineapple leafhoppers, mix Imidachloroprid insecticide (e.g. Edmayer or Tido, 7-10 ml) with 10 liters of water and spray every 10 days. Apply the solution 2-3 times, taking care when spraying.
Pineapple leaf-wrapping insects:
For pineapple leaf-wrapping insects, mix chlorpyrifos (e.g. Darsban 20 EC or Piclorex 20 EC, 20 ml) or malathion (e.g. Phyfanon, 25 ml) with 10 liters of water, and spray every 10 days, 2-3 times in the afternoon. Be cautious when spraying the insecticide.
Pineapple Scale insects:
To control pineapple scale insects, spray fenitrothion (e.g. Sumithion or Folithion, 20 ml) per 10 liters of water. To control fruit spiders, spray sulfur insecticides (such as Sulphex 80 WP, Sulphox 80 WP, Mac Sulfur 80 WP, Ronvit 80 WG, mixed with 15 grams per 10 liters of water) 2-3 times every 10 days. Be careful when spraying the insecticides.
Fruit fly insects:
For fruit fly control, mix Cypermethrin insecticide (e.g. Ustad, 20 ml, or Magic or Cut, 10 ml) with 10 liters of water and spray every 10-12 days. Apply 2-3 times, taking care during spraying.
Disease control
1. Pineapple White Leaf Spot:
1.1. Symptoms:
Grey-brown water-soaked spots with light brown edges appear on the leaves. The spots gradually enlarge and dry up.
Rotting is seen at the root of the fruit and the fruit itself.
1.2. Integrated Suppression Management:
Spray the affected field with 2 gm/liter of water containing fungicides of the Zineb group, such as Indofil-Z-78.
Do not harvest sugar from infected fields.
Do not mulch with pineapple leaves or plants.
Plant pineapples by making beds.
Maintain good drainage.
Leave the land for some days by tilling it.
Before sowing seedlings, treat with fungicides like Ridomil Gold (Metalaxyl + Mancozeb) at the rate of 2 gm/liter in water and immerse for 15 minutes.
2. Pineapple Heart Rot :
2.1 Symptoms:
Affected trees fall.
Affected leaves dry up and shrivel.
If the infected leaves are pulled slowly from the tree, they will detach at the base and the roots will be eaten.
2.2 Integrated Suppression Management:
Spray the affected field with 2 gm/liter of water containing fungicides from the Zineb group, such as Indofil-Z-78.
Do not harvest sugar from infected fields.
Do not mulch with pineapple leaves or plants.
Plant pineapples by making beds.
Maintain good drainage.
Leave the land unused for a few days by tilling it.
Before sowing seedlings, treat them with a solution containing 2 gm/liter of water and fungicides from the (Metalaxyl + Mancozeb) group, such as Ridomil Gold, and immerse them for 15 minutes.
Caution
Before using pesticides or insecticides, carefully read the label on the bottle or packet, and follow the instructions. Wear appropriate safety clothing during use, and refrain from smoking or drinking. Be mindful not to let water from pesticide-sprayed areas flow into open water bodies. Additionally, it is important to wait at least seven to 15 days after applying pesticides before selling crops from treated fields.
